I love the changes that the seasons bring about. Like so many others, with our first crisp day, I'm turning to my knitting needles and my yarn. It's my favorite needle to play with at night when I'm too tired to do anything else plus nothing beats it for airports and long car trips.
Not surprisingly, when I was at the bookstore the other day, I picked up Fall issues of both Vogue Knitting and Interweave Knits. After reviewing both, Vogue Knitting wins hands down this issue!
There's a whole section of mittens which are ALL beautiful...
There's the Fall Runway Report where they discuss knitted garments on the runway. There's a project playing with color by Kaffe Fassett, a wonderful story on knitting legend Elizabeth Zimmerman, a whole article on a new online knitting community called Ravelry.com which I can't believe I don't know about (more on that later!), a movie review of a quirky Japanese film called Wool 100% which I just added to my Netflix queue....PHEW! And I haven't even mentioned that they're featuring Canadian designers and there's a whole section on cable cardigans, boyish looks, and tape measures!
I'm going to my local shop in the next few days to pick up additional yarn for my current Fall knitting project. I must have lost a skein or two somewhere along the way?? My niece in Belgium is also asking for yarn in Grammy Aqua so she can knit herself a scarf. Now there's a damsel in distress! I'll let you know what I find out.
Here's a picture of the finished wrap. I have romantic visions of myself in cowboy boots, jeans, cool belt with a big buckle and a turtleneck with this wrap topping it all off! Let's see if I can make it happen.
I'm off to Japanese Embroidery class today after a long hiatus so I'll fill you in on that next. Be safe, my friends in Texas. I haven't stopped thinking about you.

You sold me; I'm going to have to get that issue of Vogue, but you need to revisit the dumpling pattern in the Interweave magazine. It's so cute done up and has endless possibilities for embellishment....also fun and quick to knit. You are so right, knitting is a great portable project!
That's a gorgeous wrap. The yarn must be heavenly.
I've got that white sweater on my to-knit list. I think the collar is just fab. And you must sign up for Ravelry: it's a great source for patterns, ideas and community.
