Belting it Out

While I was having my first cup of tea this morning, I read the daily page in my Awe-Manac.

Today I was delighted to see that my "Daily Soul Vitamin" was from Virginia Woolf --

"Arrange whatever pieces come your way."
Huh. I had stayed up a little late last night to pick up my sewing room (aka dining room) and had collected quite a little bin of scraps that I ended up not using on my jeans.

And I had just been thinking how my pants for Pants Pants Revolution really needed a belt to tie the whole thing together. All I needed was a push from Virginia Woolf and I was off and running with my project for the day.

So I sewed the pieces together in a big long strip 45" long by at least 3" wide.

I trimmed down the strip to 3", folded it to the center, and pressed it.

I used a black/white houndstooth plaid as the back, found a great rhinestone buckle out of my stash, added some machine embroidery and a little pleat to the end and -- Voila!!

I had whipped out this cute little number for my pants. Ooooh baby...

Now I'm thinking I might be in trouble. Those nine nieces are all going to want a belt and I'm having enough trouble finishing up all the pants...

So, remember, arrange whatever pieces come your way. Thank you Ms. Woolf.

Perfect! I LOVE the buckle; what a great inspiration! And as for the nieces....next year for Christmas, or birthdays, you've got it made. Just don't reveal the belt until you have your final modeling session and your sewing machine has been put away......

This belt is drop dead gorgeous!! I do believe that you had better get ready for nine more and then their friends will want some and their friends and you had better figure out what you are going to charge and stock up on hounds tooth and vintage buckles etc!!!
Hugs!

Brilliant idea! I love the quote too: gotta post that one in the sewing room.

It might be cheaper in the long run to go buy 9 basic sewing machines and teach these girls how to sew for themselves. Or maybe I should say 'more sane'. *wink*

What do you mean, "MIGHT be in trouble"... Ha! You ARE in trouble... Just start adjusting to the thought of nine more belts...

It's a fabulous addition to your fabulous pants!

oh yeah. This is so inspiring and WOW. And you know what, you have spurred me on to try this technique for a scarf/headband to go around a turban or hat for my balding head!
Thank you SO VERY MUCH, Sue for SHARING!!!!

What a great belt! I've been thinking about doing a similar one with one of my vintage buckles.
