Bead Journal Project

Last year beginning in June 2007, Robin Atkin's launched the Bead Journal Project with over 240 participants worldwide. Each participant vowed to create one bead journal piece per month for the next 12 months. Though I did not participate, I have enjoyed hearing and seeing the stories behind each completed piece. The Bead Journal Project is about visual journaling using any media and technique, as long as it includes beading. Participants are free to structure their bead journal pages any way they want, as long as all 12 are the same size.

Here are some of my favorites from the Flickr site...You really should head over there and check it out. The slideshow is fabulous. Here are two of my favorites from Robin herself...Click on the pictures to get a larger version. I love the stories that these pieces of art convey.

Here are some more of my favorites from various participants.

I love this whole set from freebirdsinging but especially these two...

Here's a link to the blogpost for this rainy birthday cake. It's a great story and I love the 54 colorful candles around the outside. Don't you?

And I really enjoy this creation from Nospoj. It's called "A Month of Sundaes"...

And, again, I love this whole set from Vivageshiva but here are my two favorites...

This one is called "Bluebird of Happiness". Check out the background on which it's stitched.

And this one is called "My Cup Runneth Over". I just love it!

Check out this beautiful sunflower from Krispi Quilter...

Luckily for me, there is a second Bead Journal Project that is beginning in September 2008 and I have officially registered. For information on registration, you can go here.

Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention, that the Constellation EGA Chapter in Maryland is having Robin come to teach us in October. She'll also be giving a lecture on the 2007 Bead Journal Project. I can't wait and you'll be sure to hear about it~
