Palestrina Found! and Beaded Heaven

Honestly, I don't think there are many activities more heavenly than beading an already beautiful piece of lace. I thoroughly enjoyed beading Detail 28.

Detail 29 was another "first" for me in a long line of them during this journey of details. I am enjoying trying new techniques and new combinations and always land in a place where I didn't expect to be. This makes it very fun because the piece evolves as you go. I don't think I would have ever planned to do a Palestrina stitch swirl on my block but now, I can't imagine it without it.

I used silk ribbon instead of thread because I was stitching on velvet and needed the thread to stay on top of the fabric and not sink into the nap. I really loved Sharon's swirl so I attempted to replicate it. It did "eat up" a lot of silk ribbon. I didn't have enough to do another swirl in palestrina so I did a french knot swirl with the remaining bit of ribbon that I had.

Both details very choice, Susan. Love the variegated ribbon in the Palestrina...good idea.
This journey really does take us to unexpected places...you are so right about that. Fun traveling with you!
