I have been enamored of its faded beauty and can imagine what the whole set must have looked like. I have consulted my favorite antique button book-- Buttons by Diana Epstein and Millicent Safro. This book has gorgeous pictures of some of the most beautiful buttons ever made in the history of mankind. Each button is a work of art.
I looked throughout the book, trying to find a button that is similar....but, to no avail...Now, I'm going to contact the woman who sold it to me. And maybe, since the authors of the Buttons book own a great little store in New York City called Tender Buttons, they might be nice enough to help me...

Until then, let's enjoy its beauty...

Hmmm, I somehow have the feeling that you have a plan for this beauty. Where did you find it?
ReplyDeleteIt looks like it might have had a flower design on it. It would be cool to recreate it!
ReplyDeleteThose tiny silver beads are beauties. It will be interesting to see what you do with this project, as I am sure ideas are whirling!
ReplyDeleteWow! It's a real beauty!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, what will you do with it???
ReplyDeleteThat book has a marvelous cover. And I can't help but wonder what Tom Wolfe has to say in his preface!
No, I know nothing about buttons at all. Sorry,
ReplyDeletebut it is a pretty little button.
What a beautiful button! I too love buttons and have jars of them, some of which remind me of a particular outfit or event. I'll have to look for the book.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your enthusiastic comments on my post about Lesage yesterday. I sent you a reply but I'm not sure you got it. I'm already thinking about when I can return for more lessons.
What a wonderful button. Don't you wish it could tell you where it has been? what it has seen? who has fondled it? I too love buttons. dot
ReplyDeleteWow! I never even thought of buttons that much before. I know my sister is in to them but I never really noticed them. thanks for the eye opener!
