A Break from Mrs. Rose

When I left my Mrs. Rose block last, I was still futzing with the mirror.  That seems like ages ago even though it was only two weeks.

I was going to bead the edge and treat the mirror like a cabochon but the beads looked too fancy for an institution.

Thats when I settled on this rope idea...

I had some of that roping that you use to cover with fabric and make piping so I painted it with those wonderful Tsukineko inks...

And that's about as far as I've gotten...It needs something else but I don't have time to figure it out...

My creative mind has moved from the nursing home to making Christmas gifts.

I'll do my best to share when I can.  In the meantime, I'll leave Mrs. Rose's room empty until January.

Happy day to you all.

The colored rope is just the right element. I don't think Mrs. Rose will mind you working on other more pressing time constraint projects. After all this is such a hectic season. Your stitching is such bliss dear...

I do like the rope...especially if you were going for 'bleak' -- you've succeeded! I'm thinking a pedestal table with a phonograph or an old-fashioned phone (which never rings)...

Perfect...as usual! The rope looks like it is meant to be there.

I wondered if Mrs Rose had gone on walkabout as we have not seen her recently. The rope works well and I agree beads would have not fitted in with the theme

The cord is perfect, and I'm sure Mrs Rose will wait patiently until inspiration returns!

Great solution with the rope. It works perfectly! (My grandmother's china hutch has the glass secured by a rope....) Holidays are coming way too fast, aren't they?

the grey rope is lovely - wonder if some other small item on the wall like a lamp/sconce or flower spray is what you are looking for - nothing to interfere with the mirror.
I know the holidays need your attention (and mine!) so we will wait until January :)

It's always amazing to me to see what a big effect a simple process can make. The rope frame seems ideally suited to the project, and subtly adds focus to the image in the mirror.
