Needlebook Revival

This week I find myself back in the world of needlebooks.

Next month, I will be teaching the Harikuyo Needlebook to my local Embroiderers' Guild so I am gathering supplies for those kits.  I'm also playing with alternate colorways using traditional Japanese fabrics...

Additionally, I'm designing a few romantic versions of the needlebook using silks, flowers and more feminine colors.

Since I'll be knee-deep in needlebooks next month, I'm also considering teaching a Fall version of the Harikuyo Needlebook course that I offered last February.  You can check out all the great books made from that course in the Harikuyo needlebook Flickr group here.

I have a running list of interested folks so if you emailed me your interest, you should be hearing from me in the next few weeks about possible start dates.  I'm thinking the end of October or beginning of November as a class start date.

If you have any questions or are interested in getting on that list, please email me.  I'm planning to offer a number of limited edition kits in addition to the standard one that we used last time.

You can read more about the class here

That's it for now.  See you next time!

Your needlebook colors look lovely. I also love the leaves in your top banner. Did you make them??

Hi Shirlee! Those leaves are from The Giving Purse that I made in this post:

It seems you must have having a lot of fun planning new colour schemes, but you've just given me an almighty surprise - even though I know it's September, I hadn't really realised how close the end of the year is (if you follow me!) Eeeek!

Lovely needle books and I love the romantic versions. I like the little tags with the names of needle types.

Enjoy your teaching your classes.

You do make gorgeous needlebooks, Susan. It is always fun to see what you are up to.
A lady never has too many of these little gems and they make lovely gifts.

I'm sure the EG Group will love your workshop Susan. I loved making mine and I get so many comments about it from my own branch members. Ever fancied doing a workshop in the UK ?

Susan,

It was a great class and I love using mine! :)

Perhaps the biggest plus is that I can find it anywhere on my desk at any given moment because the pages are so colorful and just the right size to resist being buried under project materials.

Susan I almost missed this post. I am still wanting to make a needlebook with your class. I will want to purchase the class and a kit so that it will be just right. Your work is always exquisite and I know I will be able to learn from you. Please keep me alert. Thank you very much dear.

Love, love the romantic colours - the others were a bit bright for my old fashioned tastes.
Reading your posts always makes me happy :-) Hummingbirds are so small! I've never seen one, let alone two fighting Jedi-style.
