Full Bloom

With the addition of those extra 10 petals, my blooms have finally finished puberty and filled out.

It takes a long time to secure all of those petals to the back of the piece and, at final count, I made 25 of them!!

Holy Smokes. If I had told myself at the beginning of this project that I would be making 25 individual lace petals...I would have thought I was crazy. Good thing I was able to keep myself in the dark.

And treat-of-treats, I finally got to start adding some of the pearls and gemstones.

I usually make myself wait for the "good part" -- which to me is the beading details that make the whole bouquet come alive but...

I've decided to finish out this top right corner lace bouquet completely before moving on...

Just a little reward for myself for making it through all those $!@blasted*&!...I mean...beautiful petals.

So today I'm working on the rest of the lace bouquet, the leaves and the secondary flowers.

Now, that's a good day. Hope yours is too.

Your stitching is exquisite. You are so right. Those additional leaves and gems gave your flowers personality plus. (Some silly people reward themselves with chocolate, tsk tsk)

it's the fact that you are just a tad crazy that makes your work so beautifull!

petal petal
pudding in pie,
kissed the stars
and made them cry.
the tears they fell
like pearls from the sky,
to enhance the flowers
and make girls sigh.

not sure where that came from...you bring out the rhyme in me susan.

Totally gorgeous! The extra petals make all the difference! I especially love those two pearls cupped by a couple of smaller petals!

All the extra work is so beautiful as these lace flowers look amazing in their 3D effect. Adding the pearls and bling is really bringing this to life and you do deserve to see progress in your meticulous work. Elegantly stunning...

I think putting all the sparklies and shiny-sh*t on is the very best part, too, Susan. Must be the magpie in me! Having said that, though, I do love those petals and I think you may be just SLIGHTLY mad to do that many. ;0) But then, that's why we love you so!

I laughed when I read this post. When I conceive of making something, I try not to think about how long it will take. My sequin work on that hockey project was an insane undertaking!!! I too think of mini-rewards to keep myself going!

It's a great idea to complete a corner and give yourself a lift by knowing what you're aiming for!
