Holiday Window Shopping

I have to completely thank my sister for this post. When she was in NYC last week, she noticed this skirt in the Holiday Windows at Bergdorf Goodman.

And she recognized it as a crazy quilt and told me all about it. So began the hunt to find its source...

Turns out, it was designed by Oscar de la Renta for their pre-Fall 2010 collection. The collection also includes a pair of pants and a sweet dress in a similar crazy fabric...

It turns out that patchwork is quite a trend for Fall 2010 fashion. So you better get crackin' ladies!

In case you don't have time to make something yourself, I pulled some prices off the Oscar de la Renta website. They're having a sale! You can own the skirt for $4,794 or the dress is a steal at $3,414! (Sorry, I couldn't find a price for the pants...you'll have to make those.)

Every year Bergdorf Goodman goes way over the top in its window displays for the Holidays. This year the theme was Wish You Were Here: Daytripping.

Make yourself smile and watch this video released by Bergdorf Goodman about the making of this year's videos featuring the song "Follow Me" by 17-year old Audrianna Cole...it's only a couple minutes long...

And Habitually Chic has a wonderful post with lots of pics or you can check out more pics on Flickr.

And I'll leave you with my absolute fave of the day...

This window...

This hood...this hand...

This bird...

$3,695 by Judith Leiber

Still my beating bird heart.

Happy day everyone.

Oh, my goo-ness... we're in style! Imagine that! I must say, though, that I really love the mix of colors; however, the price is just a tad above my reach. I always try to keep my wardrobe pieces at or below $2000. LOL!!!

Forgot to mention... the bird is something else! Thanks from bringing this lovliness to us this morning.

Ha! and I thought $70,000 for a crazy quilt was too much. (actual price someone paid - in Australia) Let's see, crazy quilting - made with bits of fabric that are usually left over from other projects, sewn onto a foundation that could be a worn out sheet (or really old clothing) embellished with this and that - Sure, we can all do it (if we had the time.) I did make crazy quilted vests and Christmas stockings from upholstery fabric samples.

Yes, to the hood, the hand, the bird (most emphatically to the bird) but what about the skirt that matches the hood, can I have that too please.

Thank you for all the lovely comment you left on my blog yesterday. It was like lots of birthdays all at once :-)

OOOO doggie!!
I think I could pull that outfit off...I bet I could pull off both of em. Even the hat in the first pic.

Who do you think made the bird. Surely it was handmade. I want it.

Love the holiday window pics. We usually find time to go into Chicago before Christmas. I love to walk around the Loop at Christmas. (My hometown, you know!)

Great post.

Flutter! Such a sweet birdie! Wonderful window and easy to see why it's your fav!

Much as I like CQ, I think I'll pass on the CQ inspired fashions! But how fun to see how "mainstream" CQ is getting to be lately!

Forget the clothes - I'll take the bird!! Actually I will take the clothes in the window with the bird as well! Why separate the poor bird from its' surroundings!

OMG!! I just clicked the link under the bird picture! I didn't realize it was a handbag!! Here I thought it was strictly ornamental. And the others she has - oh my......

You made my day a great day, at least with the pictures, less with the prices :-)

How cool is this! I visit the habitually chic site every year specifically to see her incredible photos of the BG windows - always inspirational. BUT, I missed this skirt.
