Heart Sachets

I just finished completing two heart sachets for special friends who are having a particularly tough year. And, it's two days ahead! Which is a record for me...

I crocheted two of the hearts together, stuffed them with fiberfill and lavender...

Ohhhh -- I wish you could sniff the screen...

It's a breath of Summer in the middle of stale-indoor-air February.

After they got their stuffing, I sewed up the little hole and decorated them with

seam binding and few forget-me-nots.

I really loved how they turned out.

In fact, I wish I had realized before now what a beautiful presentation they would make.

If I had, they might have been my "go to" Christmas gift...But now I guess I'm one step ahead for next year.

Wouldn't they be beautiful in multiple colors? And nestled inside a beautifully-wrapped box? And when the box was opened, you'd get a wonderful whiff of Summer as you lifted the box lid?

(Note: The pattern is from Elizabeth Zimmerman, the knitting legend, in her book The Knitting Workshop on p. 156. I took a class from my LYS and it was our instructor's idea to knit two of the inside "hearts" of Ms. Zimmerman's bonnet and sew them together. Brilliant! Knitted using Cashmerino Aran by Debbie Bliss left over from my fingerless Fetching gloves on a size 6 needle.)

I really love how they turned out, too. I am sure that they will lift the spirits of your two friends. Lavendar is so soothing and calming. It is one of my favorite garden plants and aromas.
