Buttonwheels and Flower Beads...

Buttonwheels and flower beads...life doesn't get much better than that! I had so much fun with Day 18 as you can see. When Sharon threw us buttonwheels again, I knew it was a sign that I needed to work on them since they've been my least favorite "detail" to date. Well, I'm happy to report that I've converted them from the "do not like" category to the "like" category. I really like the round shape and the different sizes. I did use a circle template, though, and that helped to take the pressure off, given my previous initiation into the "Wonky-Wheel Club".

Day 19 evolved in an unexpected way. I stitched the cretan stitch -- yes, it's under there somewhere. I then threaded 13 mm ribbon -- I couldn't seem to find anything else? Anyway, then I went to my bead soup and randomly beaded the whole thing. It's now a little strong for the overall composition (something I can "see" now that I've taken Sharon's class) so I'll have to work to deaden that line over time. It's Sunday here and the sun in shining...

I like that beaded up ribbon.

I am beginning to think my piece will be over the top (and keep going) but I like what is going on so I'll keep at it. If I finish it before September I can always say, "I didn't know better!"

There are some artquilters who do over the top embellishing and I love all that goop and glop!

Susan, I agree with you about the wonky wheel club...I have trouble with them myself. I've decided it's part of their charm to be a little lopsided here and there.
