A Hat Away From Home

Ever since Jack was a young boy, he was a hat wearer.

Jack has a very thick head of unruly hair that only behaves the day or two after he gets his hair cut.

The rest of the time, the easiest way for Jack to tame his hair is to put a hat on it.

I'm not sure how many years he's been wearing this same red Under Armour hat.  It's been at least 6.  Luckily, it's washable.

The red hat has figured so prominently in Jack's history that his cousins bottled a rootbeer after it a few years back...

Knowing his favorite color is green , I tried giving Jack a green Under Armour hat a couple of years ago.  It happened to be on our Christmas trip to Paris.  He wore it for one day...the day we visited Versailles...

And then never again.  I actually didn't like the green one either.

The red one is much easier to spot when we're in a crowd...

All this reminiscing is just a round-a-about way for a Mama to say that her 17-year old son has finally picked a college...

Jack is heading to Boston to attend the College of Computer and Information Sciences at Northeastern University.

We visited the campus this past weekend and we're thrilled that he's found a school he's excited about.

The campus is located right across the street from the Boston Museum of Fine Arts (students enter free) and there are two metro stops on his campus so he can go anywhere in Boston at the drop of a hat.

Speaking of hat...It just so happens that Northeastern University's hat is a red one.

And he's worn it for more than two days in a row.

Seems like it was meant to be.

  1. Some things really do just seem to be meant to be - University is such a great experience, and it is made all the better when you love where you are :)

  16. lol Fates hand there I reckon!
My son had a mass of curls which was delightful but as he hit 6' he took the plunge and shaved it right down to a number 1 and hes never looked back.
Now at 6' 2" you cant see where its receeding a little bit and as he said, it was much easier to handle from day one!
Wishing Jack a great time and future ; )

  19. Woo Hoo, Jack!! Huge congratulations to him and to Mama and Papa!!

Love his new red hat - that's a real statement. Jack might need to take 1 black hat off to school - Orioles, of course! Boston is the Red Sox Nation.

Enjoy all the graduation festivities! Special times.
