Getting Dressed

Today I decided to "dress" Holly Golightly and place her on my Breakfast at Tiffany's block. And I found myself needing to go to my package of little felt balls for assistance...

These felt balls are a great resource to have in your stash. I've used them many times before...I used black ones as the centers of all those Black-eyed Susans I made in the Spring.

I used them to make tiny mushroom caps for my Alice in Wonderland block.

And today, I'm using them again to give Audrey a bit of a bosom...

You can find lots of vendors selling them on Etsy. My assortment came from Woolly Fabulous...I love all the colors and the different sizes she offers in one package...plus her felt work is absolutely fabulous...just like her name says.

Anyhoo, after giving Audrey some boobs...It was time for some lipstick...

My Mom used to always tell my sister and I to "put on some lipstick."

I've never been very good about wearing it...plus, I'm forever forgetting I have it on...It only took one time to get on my needlework before I quit wearing it altogether. So if you see me with lipstick, somebody must be getting married!

That being said, it does give a girl a more finished look when she's dressed up...which Holly Golightly almost always is...

Oh, and her sunglasses...

I was lucky to find a fake patent leather fabric to use for them. The sunglasses worn by Audrey Hepburn in the movie were Ray-Ban Wayfarers...the same ones Tom Cruise wore in Risky Business...I suppose that makes them classic.

I love what Jack Nicholson says about sunglasses...

With my sunglasses on, I'm Jack Nicholson. Without them, I'm fat and 60.

Maybe I should buy some sunglasses...

As for Audrey's hair and jewelry, that's going to have to wait.

In the pics it looks like she's wearing a shower cap...

That's because I haven't quite figured out how to do the hair yet.

I think I might try building a wig separately on crinoline and attaching it.

And the jewelry? Well, that's the fun part and I won't let myself do the fun part until I get through the tough stuff.

Which, at the moment, is those 10 more petals...and the hair...

TTFN.

  5. What a talent you have! Just when I think you MUST have put on the final touches, you place something even more intriguing on there. I love what you did with the pom poms...maybe I SHOULD have them on hand for days when I feel I need a little boost...do you think they make them that big? ROTFL

This is coming together beautifully. Looking forward to see how you decide to do the hair. The monochrome palette against the Tiffany turquoise is a fabulous colour combination.
