My brother and I would check all the milkweed plants every day in the summer, looking for those caterpillars. We loved watching them encase themselves in a beautiful chrysalis and then turn into butterflies. When it formed its chrysalis, Dad would hang the lid in the archway and we'd watch the miracle of nature take place. Then when dry, we'd set them free.
