Old Silver

This picture looks so flat.

So, you'll have to imagine the shimmer of the silk, the lustre of the velvet and the special tinkle of tarnished silver lace. And think of mirrors and reflections and snow and gray days...

  3. you will come up with a way to show those fabrics to their fullest, though i am sure they will take second stage to all the actors waiting in the wings for their chance.

  4. Ah, it's in my mind's eye. I wonder if a high wattage bulb would have helped?

  5. Susan I am sorry you are not feeling well. I just backed up and read your last post also and really enjoy the January reflecting. Your stitched base will be a wonderful canvas for your beautiful stitching and details. You are correct the photo does not show the richness of the fabrics but I can imagine them as I love velvet, silk, damask, jaquard and so many fine fabrics.

  6. The material looks perfect for the addition of aged silver. It has such a delicious patina, don't you think so?

Looking forward to seeing this grow. Maybe a light from the side would help show up the texture and shine?

  9. I like the subdues colours. They are going to be the perfect backdrop for all the sparkles in your collection box. The silver lace is wonderful.

  17. Doesn't look flat to me; I especially like the polka dot piece. At any rate, your magic needle and a few embellishments will work wonders with this already very pretty block!
